Boy Scouts of America Kicks Off Popcorn Sale This Fall!

Mark your calendars for this year's Annual Boy Scout Popcorn Sale which begins Friday, Sept. 12th and runs through Friday, Oct. 31st. More than 16,000 members of the Boy Scouts of America's Greater Western Reserve Council (GWRC) will be offering 13 product combinations from Trails End, America's Best Popcorn.

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing Scouts in almost every community will kick off their annual popcorn sale. This annual fund raiser aligns with one of the goals of scouting - to teach youth within the organization how to become self-reliant. Through this popcorn sale and other fund-raising projects, we have the opportunity to teach Scouts how they - along with the combined efforts of other Scouts - can help make the world a better place.

New to the 13 product combinations available in 2008, is a 20 oz. Trails End Mix for the non-popcorn lover. The mix features almonds, cashews, peanuts, M & M's, raisins, and cranberries. This year's Ohio State University Commemorative Tin features the OSU Marching Band. The Boy Scouts of America along with Trails End Popcorn participate in the Support Our Troops program. For a donation of $25.00, $25.00 of Popcorn Treats is sent to the men and women serving in the Military through the Support Our Troops organization.

Consumers interested in purchasing any of the Trails End products through the Boy Scouts of America can be connected to a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, or Venturing Crew by contacting the Greater Western Reserve Council, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am through 4:30 pm, at 1-800-234-7268 x15, or by visiting www.bsa-gwrc.org. As one of the organization's most popular fund-raisers, the popcorn sale supports local units' Scouting throughout the year. Last year, over 70 percent of the fund-raiser's proceeds stayed within the 5 and a half counties served by the GWRC. Of that amount, one-third of the GWRC's proceeds went directly to the units that sold popcorn to fund their local programs and activities.

The Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, serves youth and families of Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Mahoning, Trumbull, and the eastern portion of Portage Counties in northeastern Ohio. For more information on the GWRC, how to join scouting and/or volunteer, call 1-800-234-7268 or visit www.bsa-gwrc.org.
