Five steps to the adventure.
Joining Pack 226 is simple. Any boy in kindergarten through 5th grade is welcome — Catholic or not, parishioner or not. Here’s how to get started.
Come to a pack meeting
The best first step costs nothing: visit us on the 2nd Thursday of the month, 6:30–7:30 pm, at St. Michael Catholic Church (3713 Harwood Road, Bedford). Meet the leaders, watch the boys in action, and ask every question you have.
Register with Scouting America
Every Scout registers with the national organization online. Create an account at my.scouting.org, or search for Pack 226 (Longhorn Council — Bedford, TX) at beascout.scouting.org and apply from there. A national registration fee is paid during signup; a pack leader can walk you through it at any meeting.
Get the uniform
Pick up the Cub Scout uniform shirt, neckerchief for your son’s rank, and handbook at our local Scout Shop:

Tell them you’re with Pack 226 in Bedford and they’ll set you up with exactly what your son’s den needs.
Set up Scoutbook
Scoutbook is Scouting America’s free online tool for tracking your son’s adventures, awards, and rank progress. Once registered, log in with your my.scouting.org account — your son’s record connects automatically, and den leaders use it to record what he completes.
Turn in the health & medical form
Every Scout (and participating adult) turns in the Annual Health & Medical Record, Parts A & B — no doctor visit required for most Cub Scout activities. Download it from our Forms & Resources page and hand it to a leader at a meeting.
One more thing (worth two minutes): Pack 226 is brand new, and we’re building our calendar around our families. Download the Parent Planning Survey (PDF), tell us what your family loves, and hand it in at any meeting — your answers directly shape what we plan this year.

Scouting that’s within reach
No pack dues for fundraising families
Families who participate in our fundraisers (like the fall popcorn sale) pay no pack dues — the pack’s program is funded by what we raise together.
The national Scouting America registration fee is paid separately at my.scouting.org, and the uniform is a one-time purchase that lasts for years.
Cost should never keep a boy from Scouting. If it’s a barrier for your family, talk to us privately — we’ll figure it out.
